About The Position

UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced and skilled HVAC Maintenance Worker, Evening Shift (330PM-12AM, Sun-Thur) to join our Utilities Operations HVAC team. We are looking for someone with strong HVAC, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting skills, knowledge of safety compliance standards, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments. As an HVAC Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for supporting HVAC technicians by performing routine inspections, assisting with system installations, and handling basic mechanical repairs. This role requires physical fitness, familiarity with diagnostic tools, and often involves general building maintenance such as plumbing and electrical work. This role works under immediate supervision to serve as helper and assist journeyman in performance of variety of maintenance and repair work in one or more craft or trade areas. Work Location: Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed. Shift Requirement: Sunday through Thursday, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM. This position covers weekend monitoring/support duties and is required to work during emergencies and inclement weather.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8th grade graduation.
  • Must have and maintain a State of Texas driver's license.
  • Strong HVAC, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of safety compliance standards.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments.
  • Physical fitness.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools.
  • Inclusion of all relevant work experience on updated resume with application submission.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience in performing variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and/or repairs locks, door closures and window shades.
  • Performs rough painting, concrete laying and patch plastering.
  • Assists plumbers by unstopping sinks, commodes, hand basins, and sewer lines.
  • Performs semi-skilled tasks in construction, repair and maintenance of wooden structures and articles.
  • Makes minor repairs and adjustments to electrical equipment and appliances.
  • Assists with the replacement of belts, filters, couplings, gaskets, pulleys, bearings and motors on a variety of mechanical equipment utilizing the tools of the trade.
  • Assists with the repairs and/or replacement of valves, fittings, pipes, controls, heat exchangers and associated components of steam, chill water and hot water systems.
  • Makes minor adjustments to equipment such as belt and pulley alignments, coupling alignments and ensuring that mechanical areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Monitors and maintains equipment daily while performing general maintenance tasks such as corrosion control and painting.
  • Assists other shops with clean-ups and general support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
