The City of Covina is now accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker I (FT) in the Public Works Department. This is an entry-level position responsible for performing a variety of unskilled routine or semi-skilled maintenance work. Incumbents operate equipment in the construction, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City infrastructure and related systems. They may be assigned to areas such as Streets and Tree Maintenance, Hardscape and Special Projects, or Sewer Maintenance, with potential for rotation. This role requires adherence to all applicable policies, procedures, and work methods. The Maintenance Worker I is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker II by performing more routine tasks and requiring less independent discretion and judgment. Work is closely supervised. Incumbents must be available for standby duty and overtime as per the AFSCME MOU and may respond to after-hours calls. They may also be assigned to other public works divisions. The position is safety-sensitive.
