Maintenance Worker I
About The Position
The Village of Lemont is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Worker I for its Public Works department, specifically within the Streets and Maintenance Division. This role involves performing a variety of street maintenance duties and operating construction and maintenance equipment such as trucks, street sweepers, tractors, and skip loaders. The work is unskilled and semi-skilled, encompassing manual labor tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, sewers, storm drains, water system mains, pipes, facilities, traffic signs, and painting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Illinois Class “B” CDL with air brake endorsement
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn
- Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of street maintenance duties.
- Operates construction and maintenance equipment such as trucks, street sweepers, tractors, and skip loaders.
- Involves a variety of manual labor tasks.
- Construction, maintenance, and repairs of streets, sidewalks, sewers and storm drains, water system mains, pipes, and facilities.
- Working on traffic signs.
- Being part of the paint crew.
