About The Position

Recreate a better life with a career in the field of Parks & Recreation. Maintenance I is responsible for performing a wide variety of general labor tasks, including cleaning, maintenance, repairs, painting, construction, landscaping, aquatic systems, and seasonal duties. The Maintenance I is responsible for the following duties, but not limited to: Cleans the interiors of buildings thoroughly (washing & waxing floors, windows, wiping walls, cleaning bathrooms & kitchen areas, etc.) Performs set-up and tear-down for programs and special events Removes garbage and disposes of properly (dump or incinerator) Performs all seasonal work assignments (e.g. snow removal, salting, ice rink maintenance, etc.) Performs general building maintenance and repair (including roofs, doors, windows, and minor maintenance/repair of electrical, plumbing, aquatic systems, and heating systems) Completes landscaping activities (urban forestry, planting, mowing, raking, chipping, etc.) Maintains all tools, equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems as necessary Routinely inspects park furnishings and landscaping (walkways, parking lots, picnic tables, bleachers, grills, benches, backstops, etc.) Identifies and repairs or reports any failures or hazards Secures each location before leaving site, checking security light timing boxes, light fixtures, fire extinguishers, thermostats, locks, and related items.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to obtain CPO Certified Pool Operator license, depending on specific position.
