About The Position

The Parks & Recreation Maintenance Worker I position plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing Scottsdale’s iconic green spaces to ensure they remain clean, safe, and welcoming for all who enjoy them. This entry-level role preserves Scottsdale's reputation as a world-class community by performing essential groundskeeping duties. This recruitment is seeking to fill multiple opportunities at various assignments including the Thompson Peak Park and Chaparral Park. Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $22.06/hour.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties as described and excellent customer service skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 36 months prior to the start date.
  • The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Trimming and pruning shrubs and trees
  • Cleaning ramadas, sidewalks, patios, restrooms, and drinking fountains
  • Inspecting grounds for hazards and report findings to supervisor
  • Operating city-owned vehicles including trucks, small tractors, and EZ-GO carts
  • Raking and weeding planters, granite areas, playgrounds, and picnic areas
  • Performing minor sprinkler repairs and maintenance
