About The Position

Performs a wide variety of general maintenance activities and functions including installing, maintaining, and repairing concrete, asphalt, drainage, water pipes, and sewer pipes. Provides support to the public and assigned City departments and divisions. Operates various equipment and tools, assists with excavation, completes work logs, and adheres to safety regulations. Responds to road service and traffic control needs, including on-call duties during hazardous conditions.

Requirements

Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Formal or informal education or training in basic maintenance activities.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma/GED preferred.
Working experience in general construction labor preferred.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair concrete, asphalt, drainage, water pipes, and sewer pipes.
Operate equipment such as air compressors, rollers, concrete mixers, concrete saws, jackhammers, and electric drills.
Utilize a variety of hand and power tools and assist in their routine maintenance.
Provide support to division staff in completing their duties.
Inspect and restore equipment fluid levels, lubricate equipment, and report repair needs.
Assist with excavation projects using manual labor, including shoveling.
Complete daily work logs and work orders.
Adhere to safety regulations, including wearing appropriate clothing, erecting barricades and signage, and using proper equipment.
Set up or assist with setting up traffic safety zones.
Prepare concrete bases, set grade, repair pavement cuts, pour concrete, and assist with concrete finishing.
Identify and collect equipment needs and stock trucks with materials and supplies.
Repair fences, cut or trim vegetation, and remove debris.
Respond to road service and traffic control needs on-call, including during hazardous and severe weather conditions.
