About The Position

Under direct supervision, performs semi-skilled and unskilled work to assist in the maintenance and cleaning of City grounds and equipment. Work involves the maintenance and landscaping of City grounds; application of herbicides and insecticides as needed. Work also includes assisting with the clearing of land for designated areas and sidewalks, setting up and assisting with special events, and trash removal in assigned areas. More specifically, ensures that street ends, beachside parks, and street end trash cans are attended to.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school
• 1 to 2 years’ experience in ground maintenance
• Must have and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license
• Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including lawn mowers, edgers, tractors, etc.
• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

• Performs general landscape maintenance duties, including mowing and trimming grass and shrubbery, edging, spraying herbicides and pesticides, and spreading grass seed and fertilizer.
• Polices areas to remove debris and litter.
• Prepares and maintains grounds; grading and performing general landscaping functions on City property.
• Must deal with city staff and general public in a positive and professional way.
• Ensures that street ends, beachside parks, and street end trash cans are attended to.
• Assists with the clearing of land for designated areas and sidewalks.
• Assists with setting up and working special events.
• Performs trash removal in assigned areas.
