About The Position

Kern Medical has been a community cornerstone since its founding in 1867. Requirements

  • Maintenance Worker I: High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent obtain knowledge in general building maintenance and repair, involving minor carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing work.
  • Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
  • Maintenance Worker II: High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and one (1) year of paid experience general building maintenance and repair, involving minor carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing work OR completion of one (1) year of experience equivalent to a Maintenance Worker I in the Kern County Classification System
  • Possession of a Valid California Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
  • Some positions may require: Possession and maintenance of a Back Flow Tester Certification.
  • Maintenance Worker III: High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and three (3) years of paid experience general building maintenance and repair, involving minor carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing work OR completion of two (2) years’ experience equivalent to a Maintenance Worker II in the Kern County Classification System.
  • Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
  • Some positions may require: Possession and maintenance of a Back Flow Tester Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Checks buildings, equipment, and grounds to locate conditions indicating the need for repair and maintenance work.
  • Makes building and grounds repairs involving plumbing, irrigation systems, painting, carpentry, mechanical, structural, flooring, and/or simple electrical work.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools in the performance of work.
