About The Position

Use your expertise to perform duties involving electronics repairs, general maintenance, and repairs of equipment and buildings, assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry in compliance with MTC and customer directives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • General knowledge of basic electronic theory and electrical practice, repairing and maintaining electronics and general repair and maintenance
  • Three years in repair, maintenance and electronic circuitry
  • US citizenship or lawful US permanent resident
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must successfully complete required preservice training post-hire

Nice To Haves

  • Certified electrician highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair of structures, electrical systems, heating, plumbing, ventilating, air conditioning and drainage systems. Recommend contracted assistance when on-site repair is not possible.
  • Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets and fuses as directed.
  • Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork.
  • Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
  • Perform repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, washers, seals, etc.
  • Makes repairs and adjustments to equipment, such as radio communication, security systems, generators, measuring devices, and similar electronic equipment and accessories; as required, operates such equipment.
  • Assist lower-level technicians with installation and repair of the more complicated electronic equipment.
  • Help prepare surfaces for finishing, i.e., painting, as directed.
  • Direct detainees assigned to facility maintenance as appropriate.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks of buildings and equipment.
  • Providing cleaning, transportation, and moving equipment as needed.
  • Incumbents are required to work overtime when directed to do so.
  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance is required.
  • On call responsibilities in emergency situations or equipment breakdowns.
  • Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
