About The Position

This role involves fabricating and erecting assigned tasks using various types of metals including stainless steel, galvanized, and black iron. The position requires proficiency in TIG, ARC, and MIG welding, as well as the safe operation of hand and power tools and shop equipment. The welder/fabricator must be able to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders, perform close tolerance measurements, and maintain tools and equipment. Safety regulations and company policies must be followed, and other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Industrial Technology degree or a degree in a related field, or a minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Ability to weld pipe.
• Ability to read schematics/blueprints.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound judgment in project implementation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
• Ability to work with others to adhere to Tyson's safety culture.
• Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and erect assigned tasks using various types of metals (angle iron, channel iron, round flat stock, etc.).
• Perform TIG welding, ARC welding, and MIG welding.
• Safely operate hand and power tools and shop equipment, including metal shear, metal brake, drill press, metal lathe, plasma cutter, oxy acetylene torch, and sanders.
• Weld in multiple positions: flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
• Perform close tolerance measurements using calipers, micrometers, etc., to meet layout print specifications.
• Set up and operate welding and fabricating equipment.
• Examine parts for defects and measure parts to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Perform machining with lathe, broaching tools, drilling, tapping, and other machining functions.
• Maintain tools and equipment (shop tools, welding/cutting gauges, welding equipment) in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
• Follow company policies and procedures, with a focus on safety regulations.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
