About The Position

Kyowa Kirin is a global specialty pharmaceutical company dedicated to discovering and advancing treatments for diseases with unmet needs. The Maintenance & Utility Technician II will support maintenance operations at their biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable operation of critical systems, minimizing downtime, and supporting a clean and compliant production environment. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and/or experience in a highly regulated industry, facility and equipment maintenance, and knowledge of regulatory compliance. This individual contributor role emphasizes a compassionate and people-focused approach, proactive collaboration, and adherence to organizational values. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for working effectively with diverse viewpoints, managing relationships, and making decisions that balance individual and team needs. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years relevant maintenance experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Completion of the BioWork certification program with the North Carolina Community College system.
  • 1 plus years’ experience within a GMP and/or other highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance on bioprocessing equipment (e.g., bioreactors, centrifuges, filtration units) with minimal supervision.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, chillers, air compressors, WFI water systems, HVAC, and other utilities as required with minimal supervision.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and conduct timely repairs.
  • Provide support for start-up, commissioning, and turnover of new systems throughout the site.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits, in compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and FDA regulations.
  • Work closely with process engineers, quality assurance, and manufacturing staff.
  • Document root causes and assist in finding long-term solutions.
