About The Position

The Progressive Processing, LLC, facility in Dubuque, Iowa, will be hiring hourly Industrial Maintenance Technician Trainees. Progressive Processing, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hormel Foods. The 342,000 sq. ft. plant is home to a variety of Hormel products including bacon toppings, SPAM®, and a variety of Hormel® Compleats® microwave meals. Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of service at Progressive Processing, LLC.
  • Completion of the Progressive Processing LLC maintenance exam.
  • Most recent Performance review rating is “Meeting Expectations” or above.
  • Must not currently be on a Performance Improvement Plan or Attendance Probation during the past 6 months.
  • Must not have second or final warnings issued within the past 6 months for work performance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary including basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform repetitive lifting tasks.
  • Ability to move 40 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Willingness to work in a cold environment (35 to 40 Degrees) and/or warm environment (70-85 degrees).

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience related to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and process systems.
  • Knowledge in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and process systems (assessed through a formal test).
  • Completed courses within the Industrial Maintenance Technician curriculum or equivalent.
  • Currently assigned to higher skill level positions and have demonstrated successful performance of the job assigned.
  • Greatest length of service (if all other criteria is equal between candidates).

Responsibilities

  • Continuously improve reliability, efficiency and utilization of plant equipment and manufacturing processes by utilizing mechanical and electrical expertise in the precise installation, maintenance and repair of plant systems and equipment.
  • Document all activities and observations concisely and accurately.
  • Be willing to join a team environment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Fully complete the program to be promoted to a Level 8 Industrial Maintenance Technician.
