About The Position

Sprague is looking for a new Maintenance member to be part of our maintenance team. This Terminal Operator will primarily work days Monday through Friday with nights and weekends sometimes required to help us handle our busy operations. Our Searsport, ME terminal handles a variety of liquid/bulk/break bulk products. This AWESOME Team Member will work in a team environment with leadership to optimize efficiency while focusing on safety every shift. We are looking for a general laborer/operator capable of a wide range of duties at an oil tank farm/bulk handling facility. A variety of skills/specialization may be utilized, some of which may require licensure or certification. Work hours include nights and weekends, and shifts vary. Overtime is frequently available, though not guaranteed, and occasionally required. Work is primarily performed outdoors in a maritime environment 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Occasional travel to other Sprague terminals may be required. We provide on the job training and a successful terminal operator will be eligible for promotional opportunities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • TWIC card
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel to other Sprague facilities may be required
  • Incumbent must possess the ability to work in a safe manner and maintain a constant state of alertness as the nature of work performed within our terminal operations create conditions where a momentary lack of concentration or alertness can lead to catastrophic results.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a general laborer preferred
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment a plus
  • Specialized licensure in certain areas a plus (i.e. PIC qualification, equipment operator certification)

Responsibilities

  • Operation of construction equipment (ex: skid steer, pay-loader, fork lift, hopper, etc.)
  • Valve alignment, Piping skills, Pump, skills, and construction skills
  • Pump and Motor maintenance, PM rounds
  • Insulating and Pipe Installation
  • Hydraulic and Hydraulic fitting skills
  • General heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance
  • Assist with mooring vessels
  • Assist with offloading of liquid and bulk cargo vessels
  • Operation of conveyor system
  • Ability to obtain Rigging, Signalmen, and Heavy Lift certifications
  • Ability to operator vessel crane(s)
  • Assist with maintenance of grounds, buildings and/or equipment
  • Participate in oil spill response drills
  • Welding/Fabrication (with suitable training/certification as required)
  • Occasional travel to other Sprague facilities may be required
  • Other duties as required
