About The Position

Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the safe, efficient, and well-maintained operation of our behavioral healthcare facility. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, grounds maintenance, and general facility upkeep to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-conscious, and experienced in general building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and equipment repair.

Requirements

  • Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment required.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and maintenance practices.
  • Must successfully complete BLS (Basic Life Support) and Handle with Care (HWC) training within two weeks of employment.
  • Must be available to attend a full week of hospital orientation upon hire.
  • Must participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Ability to respond to situations involving potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Technical or trade school training preferred.
  • Previous maintenance experience in a hospital or healthcare environment strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of building maintenance practices and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair work involving painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and preventive maintenance.
  • Conduct facility inspections and complete routine testing of equipment and building systems.
  • Clean and replace air filters in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
  • Dispose of infectious and contaminated waste following established safety guidelines.
  • Maintain facility grounds in a clean, safe, and professional manner.
  • Repair and maintain lighting systems, including replacing bulbs and fixtures as needed.
  • Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment under supervisory guidance.
  • Perform janitorial duties when needed to support facility operations.
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, OSHA regulations, safety policies, and risk management procedures.
  • Support a safe, therapeutic, and risk-free environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Maintain compliance with all facility, departmental, corporate, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through dependable attendance, punctuality, and appropriate workplace conduct.
  • Support facility-wide quality improvement and performance enhancement initiatives.
