About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the completion of maintenance service requests for scattered sites properties within Framingham, Milford, Ashland, Marlborough, Worcester, MA. In addition, the person is responsible for supporting all other maintenance related priorities. Other maintenance tasks may include the primary fields of basic carpentry, painting, electricity, plumbing, etc.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in maintenance.
  • Valid Driver’s license, reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrate use of basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Flexibility in schedule.
  • Must be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned work orders which may include maintenance, repairs, cleaning, or other tasks as assigned.
  • Completion of turnovers of units as clients move out which includes general repairs, cleaning, and general safety compliance to ensure units are ready to occupy new families within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Ensure proper communication between the Family Emergency services team and supervisors.
  • Respond to safety issues as a priority such as heating, electrical, or plumbing problems to assess and report to supervisor for follow up with landlord.
  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Handle basic repairs and maintenance.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and correct them.
  • Involved in ensuring that the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and Board of Health state and city inspections are at an acceptable standard.
  • Post inspection: Make all necessary repairs, report issues, ensure that all repairs are communicated to supervisor to inform Department of Public Health/Board of Health of any status change.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Communicate supply needs to supervisor, sign out supplies, and tools.
  • Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
  • Attend & participate in team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee, and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements. Ensure compliance with program/department, agency as well as, policies and procedures of SMOC.
  • Other duties as assigned which may include operating hand power tools, communication with program staff and supervisor about concerning/on-going issues among others.
