About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for overhauling, repairing, and testing high-speed production equipment, including ovens, packaging machines, mixers, cartoners, baggers, stuffers, and smokehouses throughout the facility. This role requires adherence to safety, GMP, and USDA guidelines, and involves completing required paperwork daily. The technician will also be responsible for understanding and using shop prints, specifications, and manufacturer manuals for servicing and installation. They will determine workforce and material requirements, prepare and paint surfaces, maintain cleanliness, use trade tools and test equipment, manage spare parts inventory, and coordinate with maintenance management for system lockouts and tagouts. Additionally, the technician will observe and assist outside contractors for compliance with ConAgra standards and train new hires/transfers on proper maintenance and safety practices.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Prior maintenance experience in a production environment
  • Electrical ability
  • Hydraulic ability
  • Pneumatic ability
  • Welding ability
  • Understand Drive train- Belts, pulleys, sprockets, and chain drives.
  • Understand Basic electrical- 110 single phase and 480 & 230 v 3 phase.
  • Understand PLC operation
  • Understand Motor control
  • Understand Fabrication- welding, grinding. and assembly.
  • Understand Hydraulic- motors, pumps, and valves.
  • Understand Pneumatics- air valves and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Overhaul, repair, and test high speed production equipment including ovens, packaging machines, mixers, cartoners, baggers, stuffers, and smoke houses.
  • Follow all safety, GMP's, and USDA guidelines.
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Complete required paperwork daily per Quality guidelines.
  • Understand, use, and update shop prints, specifications and refer to the manufacturer manual for servicing and installation of equipment and distribution systems.
  • Determine workforce and material requirements, means and methods to be used in accomplishing work assignments and recommend changes.
  • Prepare, paint surfaces and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
  • Use tools and test equipment of the trade.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and orders parts.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance management when locking and tagging systems.
  • Perform related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Observe safety requirements.
  • Observe and assist outside contractors for compliance with ConAgra standards.
  • Train new hires/transfers regarding proper maintenance and safety practices.
