About The Position

The Entry Level Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment. This position is ideal for individuals willing to learn and grow in the knowledge and skills of a maintenance position. Training will be provided. The primary focus is on the manufacturing and production operations, keeping production operating as planned. Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting. Assist with preventative maintenance responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school education and/or some general business and technical courses.
  • Basic knowledge and experience working in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Current knowledge of manufacturing systems and maintenance schedules.
  • Good organizing skills, executing on multiple projects at one time.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office application programs.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement function.
  • Knowledge of Production equipment, machines, hand tools and maintenance tools.
  • Knowledge of General production systems including processes and structure of operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Good communication skills and work as part of team.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, and squat at a workstation.
  • Duties require the ability to operate small air power tools and lifting 8-25 pounds consistently and 40-100 pounds occasionally during an 8-9 hour working period.
  • Must be able to operate computers, copy machines, phones and other standard office equipment.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively; active listening skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance responsibilities.
  • Participate in providing solutions for Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Apply basic mechanical and industrial skills to maintain facilities and equipment.
  • Communicate clearly and candidly with various people throughout the organization.
  • Prioritize maintenance requests to support manufacturing operations running as planned.
  • Participate in a Continuous Improvement group/project and think critically to bring effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships at various levels within the organization.
  • Respond to routine maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Follow instructions and ask questions when needed.
  • Participate and help with Continuous Improvement projects for production operations, maintenance function and facility.
  • Participate in creating a safe work environment that meets OSHA regulations.
  • Report safety hazards, equipment issues with needed repairs.
  • Maintain records as required.
  • Apply a general understanding of Lean principles and eliminate waste from production processes.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Build prototypes and jigs, as requested by Supervisor.
  • Provide user training and technical support for production equipment, safety protocols as necessary.
  • Coordinate and communicate work effort and project status with all vested parties throughout the organization.
