The Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance and repairs on complex production equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical). Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve efficiency, capability and yield. This is skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of light to medium duty packaging, processing and building equipment such as conveyors, elevators, blowers, sifters, burners, grinders, conventional & high speed packaging machines, labeling/printing equipment, vacuum & hydraulic pumps, and air compressors. Operates and/or oversees the operation of packaging machines and processing systems in a climate-controlled environment. Inspects, replaces, repairs and performs overhauls on mechanical drives/motors, pneumatic & hydraulic components, motor control center devices, transport conveyor systems and rotating, cutting, & grinding equipment. Uses micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and other precision instruments to determine working clearances on mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components. Performs typical maintenance repairs through assigned work orders. Performs basic machine shop duties such as drilling, grinding, light metal fabrication, welding and machining.
