About The Position

This role combines hands-on maintenance repair work with structured inspection and compliance responsibilities. The technician is responsible for executing repairs while simultaneously ensuring the facility remains in continuous compliance with FDNY, DOB, and Place of Assembly requirements. The role is audit-facing and requires strong documentation and inspection discipline.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in NYC facilities, hospitality, or public assembly venues.
  • Proven ability to both inspect systems and perform hands-on repairs.
  • Strong understanding of FDNY/DOB compliance expectations.
  • FDNY Certificate of Fitness required (or within 90 days).
  • OSHA 10/30 preferred.
  • Lift up to 50lbs.
  • Indoor/outdoor work in all conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • F-03/S-95 preferred (FDNY Certificate of Fitness)

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily facility rounds identifying defects, hazards, and compliance gaps.
  • Execute repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and general building systems.
  • Immediately document findings and corrective actions during inspections.
  • Prioritize work orders based on life-safety risk and operational impact.
  • Maintain docks, waterfront elements, dining areas, BOH kitchen, and event spaces.
  • Inspect & Maintain FDNY Life Safety: Maintain FDNY Certificate of Fitness (F-07 required; F-03/S-95 preferred). Conduct and log routine fire/life safety inspections: extinguishers, exit signs, emergency lighting. Perform minor corrective repairs (bulb replacement, signage fixes, obstruction removal). Escalate and coordinate major system repairs (fire alarm, sprinkler, standpipe). Support drills, impairment procedures, and emergency readiness.
  • Inspect & Repair DOB & Facility Systems: Perform inspections tied to DOB-regulated systems: boiler, gas, structural conditions, general safety. Complete minor repairs in-house and coordinate vendors for regulated systems. Maintain inspection logs and service records for all systems. Identify violations proactively and complete corrective actions before inspection cycles.
  • Inspect and maintain compliant egress: aisles, exits, occupancy layouts. Physically correct issues (remove obstructions, reset layouts, repair lighting). Support inspections and ensure real-time compliance during events.
  • Maintain daily inspection + repair logs (combined workflow). Track deficiencies through resolution with documented proof of correction. Ensure all permits, logs, and documentation are organized and inspection-ready.
  • Practice safe work habits and complete company and venue safety and general compliance training.
  • Maintain a pleasant and collaborative attitude towards customers, co-workers, and management.
  • Adheres to the Legends Global and venue company policies.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.
  • Available to work non-traditional hours (Nights, Weekends & Holidays)
