About The Position

Responsible for the site’s manufacturing maintenance function, supporting our production lines through the implementation of best practices. This includes following all required procedures to ensure equipment is properly maintained for safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical C&G, BTEC, ONC, HNC
  • Experience in a Maintenance/Technician role.
  • Proven experience in equipment maintenance preferably Fibre Optic and Photonic manufacturing and test equipment.
  • Fault finding skills down to component level.
  • Knowledge and experience of equipment Calibration.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment essential.
  • Manual Handling/ Gas Safety certified.
  • All UK applicants must, as a minimum, be able to successfully complete security vetting to the UK government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard, which includes a criminal record check being performed.
  • Many roles may also require higher levels of security vetting to be completed, where applicants must typically have been continuously resident within the UK for the past five to ten years.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of photonics equipment and its applications, specifically fibre optics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing maintenance as required according to procedures.
  • Support Engineering development by providing maintenance support when required.
  • Perform planned, routine maintenance as per scheduled service periods.
  • Ensure all equipment requiring calibration has valid certification and calibration has been performed as per appropriate procedures.
  • Record and identify all equipment within database and asset register accordingly.
  • Maintain traceability of all equipment on-site.
  • Ensure the Maintenance Scheduling software is kept up to date with relevant calibration/service dates and all repair/work are entered accordingly.
  • Ensure all manufacturing equipment is functional and in good working order.
  • Repair as necessary/instructed.
  • Install and retrofit new equipment or machinery as required.
  • Provide training/knowledge sharing to new and existing technicians.
  • Use of manual handling skills to re-locate equipment or Production lines when required.
  • Adherence to all Company policies, management systems and standard operational procedures, including legal responsibilities in relation to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality.
  • Working positively to develop and foster good working relationships with colleagues and contracted personnel in order to maintain a culture of mutual respect and dignity.
  • Promote and display the G&H values: Customer focus, Integrity, Action, Unity, Precision.
  • Communicate issues adversely affecting Manufacturing/Maintenance promptly to the Maintenance Lead.
  • Report resource constraints to the Facility & Maintenance Manager that put maintenance activities at risk.
  • Maintain high standards in all Health & Safety activities, following strict procedures obtained from appropriate risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of photonics equipment and its applications, specifically fibre optics.
  • Work with other Departments as and when resource and planning dictate.
