About The Position

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, installation, testing, and calibration of production equipment throughout the factory, including facilities equipment. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment problems down to the component level, performing routine periodic testing, and optimizing equipment uptime in collaboration with engineers and production personnel. The technician will also maintain records for equipment repair and preventive maintenance, schedule maintenance procedures, and perform minor facility repairs such as plumbing and electrical work.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical AA degree in general engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
  • 2+ years applicable experience in a manufacturing setting in relation to repair and maintenance aspects of production and testing equipment.
  • Experience using power tools, lifting, and measurement/diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of technical drawing and basic engineering principles to repair and maintain production equipment.
  • Experience in mechanical and technical troubleshooting of equipment problems.
  • Hands-on and direct approach to problems and needs of production demand.
  • Experience working as part of a team to perform testing, including data analysis for equipment performance.
  • Experience with networked PC-based computer systems.
  • Ability to anticipate and handle multiple priorities and complex/abstract issues involving external and internal priorities under time constraints.
  • Ability to identify required parts for fixing problems and locate suppliers to obtain them.

  • Probable errors may be serious, involving major losses, improper costs, loss or holding up production, waste of material, damage to equipment, etc.
  • Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as noise, dust, heat, and oils.
  • Flow of work and type of duties involve constant normal mental and visual demand, along with manual coordination for over 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, ensuring it is done on time and without extensions.
  • Resolve maintenance scheduling conflicts without interrupting production capacity.
  • Obtain necessary parts and supplies prior to preventive maintenance due dates.
  • Communicate with production personnel for feedback on equipment performance and to provide feedback on maintenance performed.
  • Seek assistance to complete tasks on time if problems arise.
  • Identify opportunities for better equipment utilization and bring them to the attention of relevant personnel.
  • Review equipment maintenance history to update the maintenance schedule periodically.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
  • Source and obtain spare parts quickly for broken equipment.
  • Perform hands-on repair and maintenance of equipment safely, with operator assistance.
  • Document repairs clearly in maintenance records.
  • Ensure quality repairs with no repeated breaks of initially failed components.
  • Maintain maintenance shop facilities for the design and implementation of new equipment.
  • Modify production equipment for safe operation and productivity increase.
  • Install new equipment, bring it into operation, and train operators.
  • Coordinate with external/internal suppliers to ensure equipment is working properly and spare parts are available.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance records with just-in-time record keeping.
  • Review and audit department processes for continuous improvement, cycle time, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure department processes are ISO9001 compliant.
