About The Position

New Flyer is North America's heavy-duty transit bus leader. This position is responsible for maintaining all plant equipment to ensure 100% production uptime. The role supports key operating principles of safety, quality, operational excellence, lean journey, and continuous improvement while meeting or exceeding internal customer expectations. The technician will perform repairs and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as basic repairs like carpentry, painting, and flooring. Knowledge of hydraulics, motors, and pumps is required. The role involves using various hand and power tools, specialized machinery, and working from heights. The position requires the ability to work with little or no supervision and to prioritize tasks effectively, especially in response to production stoppages.

Requirements

  • Industrial Maintenance preferred.
  • PLC and Laser Fab experience preferred.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to use voltage/amp meters and test probes.
  • Proficiency with hand tools.
  • Good people skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor and control many different tasks.
  • Medium level computer skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial Maintenance experience.
  • PLC experience.
  • Laser Fab experience.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company safety policies and identify and resolve safety concerns.
  • Maintain a high level of quality in all work performed.
  • Maintain the required work schedule, coordinating with production and manufacturing engineering for equipment and area availability.
  • Interface and communicate with other departments to minimize production impact.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all work orders are closed and submitted to the Team Lead upon completion.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and Team Lead as requested.
  • Repair and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related systems.
  • Carry out basic repairs such as carpentry, painting, flooring, lighting, and small-scale installations.
  • Work with hydraulics, and all types of motors and pumps.
  • Safely transition between projects to support high-priority production stoppages.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery such as forklifts, aerial lifts, floor scrubbers, and sweepers.
  • Work from various heights.
