Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • 2–3 years of experience in preventative maintenance or a related trade.
  • Advanced familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and facility equipment.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and SDS (Safety Data Sheets) documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital task-tracking software.
  • Must be able to maintain an on-call status outside of regularly scheduled shifts to address facility emergencies.
  • In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field (Preferred).
  • Professional certifications in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Mechanical fields are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Communicate promptly with leadership regarding any projects requiring specialized external expertise.
  • Conduct routine premises inspections and execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain facility safety systems, including fire, smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors. Ensure strict adherence to Mission safety protocols and access control regulations.
  • Effectively manage and update the digital maintenance tracker to ensure clear communication on task status and completion.
  • Oversee on-site contractors and external professionals during specialized repairs to ensure work meets Mission standards.
  • Address structural issues and machine malfunctions as they arise to ensure facility integrity.
  • Maintain organizational standards for cleanliness in high-priority areas, including boiler rooms, supply zones, and offices.
  • Manage outdoor safety through seasonal snow removal, ice management (salting), and accurate log maintenance.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to establish and execute recurring maintenance cycles (weekly, monthly, and annual).
  • Represent the Buffalo City Mission in a manner that reflects our core values and provides a high level of service to all stakeholders.
