About The Position

The position of Maintenance Tech is responsible for providing the maintenance and repair of the plant’s machinery, grounds, buildings and equipment. As we continue to grow the T. Marzetti Company is looking to hire team members who will grow with us on our journey towards world class operational excellence.

Requirements

Mechanical aptitude and accurate troubleshooting ability are required, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
Ability to successfully work independently and as a team with minimal supervision to accomplish tasks as assigned.
Must be able to successfully obtain industrial truck and lift operating certification and safely maintain per company and OSHA standards.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – verbally & written – to and work well with Team Members, Management, Customers & Vendors.
Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation, ability to properly use/operate accurate tools and good math skills are required.
Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast paced environment.
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

Industrial Maintenance Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Works respectfully with all team members to ensure the Safety, Quality, production and support of our products and goals on a daily basis.
Practices integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members and visitors.
Actively participates in Marzetti Operational Excellence, special projects or tasks, and modification programs as needed with prior approval.
Actively participates in department/shift/team meetings and is involved with improvement/resolutions & follow-up.
Maintains highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards.
Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields and aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the facility.
Successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance to OHSA and company requirements and standards.
Performs daily inspection of power equipment with proper documentation.
Completes his/her Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects issues when identified, and participates in problem solving.
Leads and promotes a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility
Completes his/her Behavior Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues when identified and participates in problem solving.
Ensures compliance to quality, Food Safety Preventive Control (FSPC), FSMA, Food Defense, , OSHA and other support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
Reviews, understands, and complies with all applicable SOPs containing Process or Preventive Control monitoring or verification, if trained and designated as a Qualified Individual (QI).
Communicates any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality and legality to management or to the confidential hotline if the need for anonymity is necessary.

Capable of performing functional tasks of perquisite Maintenance Tech level(s), as applicable.
Completes all daily paperwork & know there importance
Provides maintenance support to packaging & processing equipment
Basic knowledge of plumbing components & fittings
Basic welding
Change filters & oils in plants
Rebuild product pump per sanitation guidelines
Maintains water towers & test water along with cleaning of towers
Identify & replaces bearings
Can replace electric motor single or 3 phase
Setup packaging equipment
Performs water test, ph test, total hardness, & conductivity
Maintains, cleans & inspects of the HVAC units in our plants
Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Management
Sets up & uses plasma cutter properly & safely
Sets up & uses Lathe
Sets up & uses Vertical Mill
Performs boiler tests, cleans & repairs boilers
Has basic understanding & assists in refrigeration
Welds with Tig, Mig, Stick welders on mild steel & stainless
Repairs & troubleshoots on mechanical problems on lifts
Must be able to read P&ID
Maintains, repairs, tracks, & adjust conveyor belts
Can perform monthly sprinkler test
Wires & troubleshoots a start /stop circuit
Tool time meetings
Able to go online with compact, control or micrologix serial & ethernet
Navigates & has basic understanding of PLC programs
Replace program all different types drives & able to use the HMI
Welds all types of metals with all types of welders & weld aluminum.
Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system compressor
Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system condenser.
Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system evaps & valve stations
Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system Hansen Auto Purger
Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system tanks & pumps
Must have good understanding of ammonia refrigeration & able to start up
Maintains, operates, set-up, & troubleshoot KHS baggers
Maintains, operates, set-up, & troubleshoot Ishida Scales
