About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of routine and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the efficient operation and safety of our extended stay hotel. This role focuses on maintaining the physical functionality of the building, equipment, and systems while providing prompt and courteous service to guests and staff. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with the property management team to address maintenance issues, complete work orders, and uphold property standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or building systems.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance repair.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify effective solutions quickly.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and on-call shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
  • Complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring minimal disruption to guests.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems to identify issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of building systems (e.g., HVAC, lighting, plumbing, appliances).
  • Follow the property's preventative maintenance schedule to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and records of work completed.
  • Interact professionally with guests and respond to their maintenance concerns with urgency and care.
  • Ensure guest rooms are fully functional and promptly address any guest-reported issues.
  • Work collaboratively with front desk and housekeeping teams to prepare rooms for new guests.
  • Follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to building codes and safety standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organized maintenance shop and storage areas.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment to management.
  • Assist with inventory control by tracking usage and requesting needed supplies or parts.
  • Monitor utility systems to ensure efficient operation and identify opportunities for energy conservation.
  • Participate in property improvement projects and renovations as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and other exterior maintenance tasks when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Property Manager or management team.
