About The Position

AWARE is hiring a Maintenance Technician to maintain group homes and corporate buildings and support safe, well-kept facilities. The role includes structural repairs, general maintenance, groundskeeping, safety inspections, recordkeeping, and vehicle inspections. Technicians may travel to Montana communities outside their home community; AWARE compensates travel and overnight stays when assignments are more than 50 miles from the employee’s home address. The position pays $25.00 per hour.

Requirements

Considerable knowledge of general maintenance practices.
Ability to problem-solve, make repairs, and develop cost-effective solutions.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work independently and with a variety of staff.
High school diploma or GED.
Five years of maintenance experience.
Valid Montana Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Construct, erect, install, and repair structures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard in accordance with local building codes.
Purchase needed materials and equipment according to corporate policy.
Repair and maintain group homes and corporate buildings, including replacing electrical switches and fixtures, painting, repairing plaster and drywall, and troubleshooting equipment failures.
Maintain grounds by mowing and watering lawns, planting flowers and trees, raking leaves, and removing snow.
Conduct monthly safety inspections in group homes.
Maintain records documenting compliance with health and safety standards, obtaining bids, and overseeing purchases.
Participate in annual home licensing with health and fire departments.
Participate in Safety Committee meetings.
Initiate changes to safety procedures in the homes.
Maintain first aid kits in homes and vans.
Inspect vans weekly and arrange maintenance and repairs.
Supervise residents interested in learning maintenance skills as part of vocational training.
Travel to Montana communities outside the employee’s home community when requested.
