About The Position

Killam Apartment REIT, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's largest residential real estate investment trusts, owning, operating, and developing a $5.3 billion portfolio of apartments and manufactured home communities. Killam's strategy to drive value and profitability focuses on three priorities: (1) increase earnings from the existing portfolio; (2) expand the portfolio and diversify geographically through accretive acquisitions, targeting newer properties and dispositions of non-core assets; and (3) develop high-quality properties in its core markets. We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team of professional maintenance workers who service our Manufactured Home Communities in the Halifax area. This is a hands-on position working outdoors in general maintenance, plumbing repairs, landscaping, snow removal and other property specific duties.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years previous labour/maintenance experience
  • Landscaping experience (knowledge of plants, laying sod or seed, using lawn tractors, gas trimmers, etc.)
  • Minor carpentry experience, including use of power tools
  • Ability to work as a team, and also under minimal supervision
  • Must be flexible to work various hours and on-call duties and enjoy working outside
  • Must have valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in daily maintenance of private water and waste water systems would be considered an asset, including collecting water samples, testing chlorine residuals, etc
  • Snow removal experience would be considered an asset, including heavy equipment operation
  • Familiarity with plumbing and water line repairs would be considered an asset
