About The Position

Dal-Tile, a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries and the largest manufacturer of tile and natural stone in the United States, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their team. This role involves making adjustments to machines and equipment for proper operation. The primary objective is to perform complex mechanical duties and a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair, and/or distribution of electrical energy. This includes installing, maintaining, and replacing electronic programmable controllers in a manufacturing environment. The technician will troubleshoot PLCs, design and redesign programs and software, set up computers, and maintain electrical systems. They will also be responsible for identifying and diagnosing issues in electrical systems, performing standard computations related to load requirements, and demonstrating knowledge of serial port communication systems, VFDs, process control instrumentation, servomotors, and drive units. A key aspect of the role is continuously seeking opportunities for productivity improvements and cost reductions, planning and executing process improvements, and leading projects to ensure equipment is returned to safe and efficient operation. The technician will also maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical code.
  • 4 or more years industrial maintenance experience.
  • 2 years industrial electrical experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLCs.
  • Ability to score 80% or better on the Industrial Maintenance exam.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures in English.
  • Ability to test motors and electrical circuits using a voltmeter and amp meter.
  • In depth knowledge of LGV equipment and operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman electrical license preferred.
  • Associate degree in industrial electronics preferred.
  • Formal PCL training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex mechanical duties and a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy.
  • Install, maintain and replace electronic programmable controllers in a manufacturing environment.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller) using hand held device or laptop.
  • Design and redesign program and software (PLCs, operator panels, etc).
  • Format hard drives and install to the computers (Computer Setup) and PC application.
  • Install, maintain or repair equipment for the generation, distribution or utilization of electrical energy in a manufacturing environment.
  • Locate and diagnosis trouble in electrical systems or equipment working from blue prints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
  • Work standard computations related to load requirements of wiring and/or electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Serial port communication systems, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and process control instrumentation devices (thermocouples, pressure switches, etc).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Servomotors and drive units.
  • Continuously review their respective area for ideas and thoughts that will drive productivity and reduce costs within the organization and be able to professionally speak to their solution for improvement.
  • Plan and submit process improvements and execute the plan.
  • Use a variety of electricians tools including measuring and testing instruments.
  • Lead projects and complete them successfully, returning equipment to production operating safely and efficiently.
  • Keep work area safe, clean and organized.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
