Maintenance Technician
About The Position
The Maintenance Technician is a member of Land O’Lakes, Inc.’s manufacturing team, supporting the facility and production equipment to help ensure the plant produces high-quality products. The role includes installation, ongoing maintenance, and repairs of facility and production equipment, working with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and controls. This position is part of the Purina Animal Nutrition business. The schedule is Monday through Friday on second shift, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Weekends, overtime, and holidays may be required as needed, and the shift may vary based on operational and preventive-maintenance needs. Pay is $35.60 per hour, plus a $1.00-per-hour shift differential.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- At least 1 year of industrial or building facility maintenance experience.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions and product manuals.
- Willingness to learn new skills, problem-solve, and troubleshoot.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, and a respectful approach.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Able to perform frequent active movements, including walking, standing, bending or stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, and climbing.
- Able to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
- Able to work for extended periods in cold and/or hot temperature zones, and potentially in areas where dust and chemicals are present.
Nice To Haves
- 1 to 3+ years of experience working with basic electrical systems, compressors, welding, plumbing, conveyors, hydraulics, packaging, PLCs, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and pumps.
- LOTO experience.
- Forklift experience.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety processes and insist on safe practices from self and others.
- Arrive on time, complete tasks by deadlines, and adapt quickly to changes.
- Monitor plant machinery and equipment for proper operating performance.
- Perform regular and preventive maintenance, repairs, diagnoses, tests, troubleshooting, and inspections on machinery and equipment, and document work accordingly.
- Ensure standard operating procedures are followed.
- Multitask and keep up with demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
