About The Position

Novolex is a leading manufacturer of food, beverage, and specialty packaging that supports multiple industries including foodservice, restaurant delivery and carryout, food processing, grocery and retail, and industrial sectors. Novolex manufacturing and sourcing expertise spans a diverse range of substrates including resin, paper, molded fiber, aluminum and more. They provide customers a broad array of stock and customized solutions with 120 product categories, 250 brands and over 39,000 SKUs. This Maintenance Technician position is located in Grottoes, VA and is hiring immediately. The role involves performing all assigned Electrical duties in a safe and cost-effective manner, minimizing downtime by providing fast and accurate troubleshooting, repair, inspection, maintenance, service, calibration, installation and configuration of related manufacturing and production equipment.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience as an Industrial/Manufacturing Maintenance Electrician, or 2 years trade/technical school in a related field, or 4 years Industrial/Manufacturing experience with electrical knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Work alone, with a skilled tradesperson or operations personnel
  • Work in a team environment
  • Work with limited supervision
  • Able to stand for long periods, climb, kneel, squat and crawl
  • Lift and carry materials and equipment of 50 lbs or less
  • Work flexible hours
  • Electrical equipment and instrumentation or controls
  • AC & DC motors, motor controls and MCC’a
  • Electrical distribution and related equipment
  • AC variable frequency drives/DC variable speed drives
  • Programmable Logic Controllers and automated equipment
  • General Industrial or Manufacturing standards & practices including OSHA

Responsibilities

  • Perform all assigned Electrical duties in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Minimize downtime by providing fast and accurate troubleshooting, repair, inspection, maintenance, service, calibration, installation and configuration of related manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Execute work orders
  • Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors and managers.
  • Maintain necessary records and documents of work performed.
  • Troubleshoot PLC hardware
  • Operate electrical test equipment and interpret results
  • Read, understand and make use of associated drawings, schematics and diagrams
  • Prepare accurate documents
  • Understand, interpret and apply the National Electrical Code - NEC
  • Plan, organize and prioritize work activities and duties
  • Multitask and work under pressure
  • Work flexible hours
