About The Position

Join the Adventure at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum! The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is seeking a motivated, driven, and collaborative individual to join our Maintenance team as a full-time Maintenance Technician. Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Please understand that if offered a position, you will be required to provide a satisfactory 3-year Drivers History Record, and pass a pre-employment drug screen as a final condition of employment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Journeyman electrical skills are required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to be trained to perform basic data entry for timekeeping and e-mail purposes.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance tasks as part of the Maintenance department, in support of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs physical plant systems including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, exhibits and paths on grounds.
  • Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor.
  • Performs plumbing, electrical, carpentry fabrication, welding fabrication.
  • Installs system material and components in accordance with blue prints, manuals, building codes and ASDM operating standards.
  • Performs general painting on buildings inside and out.
  • Maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing systems though out the Museum.
  • Maintenance, repair and installation of telephone and data cabling systems.
  • Maintenance, repair and installation of ASDM Filter Building pumps and water systems.
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on all ASDM refrigerators, freezers, and other equipment.
  • Assists other departments as required.
