About The Position

Join the Adventure at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum! The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is seeking a motivated, driven, and collaborative individual to join our Maintenance team as a full-time Maintenance Technician. Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Please understand that if offered a position, you will be required to provide a satisfactory 3-year Drivers History Record, and pass a pre-employment drug screen as a final condition of employment.

Requirements

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Journeyman electrical skills are required.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to be trained to perform basic data entry for timekeeping and e-mail purposes.
Valid Arizona driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

Performs maintenance tasks as part of the Maintenance department, in support of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.
Maintains, repairs, and installs physical plant systems including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, exhibits and paths on grounds.
Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor.
Performs plumbing, electrical, carpentry fabrication, welding fabrication.
Installs system material and components in accordance with blue prints, manuals, building codes and ASDM operating standards.
Performs general painting on buildings inside and out.
Maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing systems though out the Museum.
Maintenance, repair and installation of telephone and data cabling systems.
Maintenance, repair and installation of ASDM Filter Building pumps and water systems.
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on all ASDM refrigerators, freezers, and other equipment.
Assists other departments as required.
