About The Position

The Maintenance Technician designs, implements, and maintains programmable logic controllers (PLC) and troubleshoots and maintains electronic and electrical equipment. The role performs preventative and repair maintenance on production equipment, heating and cooling systems, ingredient handling systems, and plumbing systems, while supporting the preventive maintenance program and minimizing downtime. The technician also installs, maintains, repairs, and overhauls production equipment and electrical controls, circuits, and PLCs; responds to work orders and production-floor maintenance calls; and records completed work in a timely manner. The position requires safe handling of chemicals, maintaining clean work areas, and the ability to train and influence others. The scheduled hours are 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting wage is $33.47 per hour.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and understand instructions.
• Solid organizational, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Regular attendance.
• Ability to manipulate, lift, and position heavy equipment.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl; occasionally climb steps and safety ladders; and walk and stand continuously.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical issues and equipment breakdowns.
• Support the preventive maintenance program and help minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive and repair maintenance on production equipment, heating and cooling systems, ingredient handling systems, and plumbing systems.
• Start machines and equipment to test operation and repair flow.
• Record preventive maintenance tasks and work orders in a timely manner.
• Complete work orders and respond promptly to maintenance calls on the production floor to prevent downtime.
• Install, maintain, repair, and overhaul production equipment.
• Install and maintain electrical equipment, controls, circuits, and PLCs.
• Troubleshoot and identify worn parts, and rebuild machine assemblies, pumps, meters, valves, valve actuators, and other equipment.
• Handle and use chemicals safely while following hazardous communication requirements.
• Train others as needed and influence others.
• Maintain sanitation and housekeeping in work areas and work safely and efficiently.
