About The Position

WinnCompanies is actively hiring for several Maintenance Technician I and Maintenance Technician II opportunities in the Oakland, CA area. Whether you're beginning your maintenance career or bringing years of experience, we're looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, excellent customer service skills, and general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, or HVAC systems. In these roles, you'll perform maintenance functions throughout the community, including residential apartments, common areas, offices, grounds, and building systems. You'll complete service requests, assist with apartment turns, support preventative maintenance activities, and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents. Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience (for Maintenance Technician I)
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience (for Maintenance Technician II)
  • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and tablets.
  • Availability for on-call activity during off-hours for urgent needs.
  • Ability to speak and understand basic English.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and personalities.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or technical training.
  • Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT).
  • Previous experience in apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs in such areas as, but not limited to, appliances, carpentry, hardware accessories, masonry, painting, basic electrical, basic plumbing, and basic HVAC.
  • Complete assigned service requests and repairs consistent with company operating procedures.
  • Assist in preparing vacant apartments for market-ready status in accordance with company standards.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs, property inspections, and general upkeep activities.
  • Maintain grounds and curb appeal through landscaping, trash management, and other site maintenance activities.
  • Be available for on-call activity during off-hours and emergencies based on a pre-determined schedule and business need.
