About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of all parts and equipment on the packaging line and blending areas to maximize run time. This role monitors packaging operations and suggests any mechanical/electrical changes or upgrades that would increase efficiency.

Requirements

  • Mechanical skills and experience: basic and general maintenance, burning and welding operations, predictive maintenance skills, plumbing, rigging, shop equipment and machining operations.
  • Electrical skills, experience and ability to understand relay logic, electrical schematics, perform electrical troubleshooting on AC and DC circuits, VFDs, PLCs, operate computers and man-machine interface equipment.
  • Proficient in operating Shop equipment such as Lathe, End Mill, Welder.
  • Ability to calibrate level and conductivity probes through Wonderware computer software.
  • Ability to enter minor program changes as needed based on equipment adjustments.
  • Ability to write and complete work orders satisfactorily and in a timely manner.
  • Adherence to standard operating procedures (SOP) and lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ownership/pride in previous roles.
  • High level of organization, time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take on multiple roles and tasks.
  • Must be self-directed, and prepared to take on additional responsibilities when asked.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and possess leadership capabilities.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be a team player who works well with others at all levels of an organization.
  • Willingness to work over time, weekends and off-shift.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of all parts and equipment on the packaging line and blending areas to maximize run time.
  • Monitoring packaging operations and suggesting mechanical/electrical changes or upgrades to increase efficiency.
  • Performing basic and general maintenance, burning and welding operations, predictive maintenance, plumbing, rigging, shop equipment and machining operations.
  • Performing electrical troubleshooting on AC and DC circuits, VFDs, PLCs, and operating computers and man-machine interface equipment.
  • Testing circuits, fuses, motor starters, and motors.
  • Rebuilding packaging equipment as needed.
  • Advising Supervisor on any parts needed for the packaging line.
  • Performing preventative maintenance (PM) throughout the Plant including Fillers, Cappers, Depalletizers, Labelers, Conveyors, etc.
  • Replacing, repairing, and/or adjusting mechanical parts such as valves, bearings, gearboxes, chains, sprockets, gaskets, seals, regulators, couplings, etc.
  • Calibrating level and conductivity probes through Wonderware computer software.
  • Entering minor program changes as needed based on equipment adjustments.
  • Operating and working on facility and equipment using mechanical, electrical, and control skills.
  • Writing and completing work orders satisfactorily and in a timely manner.
  • Adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP) and following lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Modeling safe and effective practice.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or as business needs change.
  • Working with Safety, Continuous Improvement, and Quality Leaders to address defects.
  • Ensuring compliance to all Food Safety, GMP Procedures, HSE, and 5S requirements.
