About The Position

Performs preventive maintenance, fabricates, and repairs all equipment and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operation of machinery, hydraulics, electrical equipment, and electrical components. This role requires a strong understanding of industrial maintenance principles and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining environmental and quality standards, contributing to team efforts, and assisting with production-related challenges.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using known methods.
  • Ability to work safely.
  • Ability to comprehend and make references from written material and work orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in designing, repairing, and/or fabrication.
  • Lockout/Tag out training.
  • Forklift safety training.
  • Crane safety training.
  • Spill Response training.
  • Required in-house training.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance on production equipment, support equipment, and facilities.
  • Responds to production breakdowns throughout the facility.
  • Rebuilds production equipment including air motors, hydraulic pumps, water pumps, coolant pumps, and diaphragm pumps.
  • Maintains, fabricates, and repairs all production, support, and facilities as needed.
  • Dismantles and assembles complicated machines to determine the cause of problems.
  • Completes preventative maintenance requirements on Roll Mills, Roll mill support equipment, conveyor systems, air compressors, and ventilation systems, and troubleshoots malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing and using precision measuring or testing instruments (micrometers, calipers, tape measure).
  • Lifts equipment and dies using cranes and lift trucks.
  • Installs new equipment and assists suppliers with testing.
  • Prepares work reports at the end of each shift.
  • Receives work orders, performs repairs, writes completion reports, and notifies supervisors.
  • Makes purchase requests to the supervisor for required parts.
  • Maintains all equipment and support equipment using grease guns, oils, replacement parts, and welding (MIG, Stick, occasional TIG).
  • Uses shop equipment such as lathes, mills, and hand grinders.
  • Reads and understands electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical problems using known methods.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ensures personnel performing work affecting product quality are competent.
  • Provides assistance to other skilled trades in the event of production or staffing emergencies.
  • Works with supervisors, engineers, and management to provide effective maintenance solutions.
  • Assists with production difficulties related to the Roll form process, setup, and operation.
  • Ensures all work is performed in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with Company policy.
  • Maintains awareness and understanding of Environmental Policy (ISO 14001) and Quality Policy (IATF 16949) guidelines and their impact on the position's responsibilities.
