About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining and performing limited repairs on Agency equipment, vehicles, and machines. The role also involves performing normal building maintenance duties at all facility sites. The Maintenance Technician will assist with normal building maintenance operations, including cleaning vents, repairing walls, and managing work orders. During winter months, the role includes snow removal from sidewalks and parking lots and salting walkways. The position ensures building and grounds maintenance equipment is in good operating condition, recommends system modifications for quality improvement, and implements safety and health policies. Duties also include performing industrial machine maintenance, loading/unloading delivery trucks, delivering shipments, adjusting building temperatures, preparing purchase requisitions, and maintaining Safety Data Sheets. This role may act as a backup for other Tech Assistant roles and requires the use of a cell phone for work-related internet access. Specific duties for Maintenance Tech Assistant 1 include minor electrical repairs and installation, and assisting with vehicle and equipment maintenance. Maintenance Tech Assistant 2 assists the janitorial crew, orders supplies, creates schedules, maintains inventory, and ensures janitorial areas are organized. This role also involves backup coverage for lawn care, plant maintenance, and painting walls with minor repairs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years verifiable experience in maintenance and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certificate
  • Knowledge of e-mail and general operation of computers.
  • Basic plumbing, basic carpentry, operating and maintaining snow removal equipment, forklifts, and landscaping equipment
  • Electrical, minor vehicle repairs, minor HVAC maintenance, and read blueprints
  • Painting, landscaping, cement work, and janitorial

Responsibilities

  • Assist with normal building maintenance operations at all facility sites, including cleaning vents, repairing walls and work orders created on AutoTask.
  • During winter months, remove snow from sidewalks and parking lots at all facility sites and salt walkways and through parking lots.
  • Ensures that building and grounds maintenance equipment are in good operating condition.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production and maintenance systems to achieve optimum quality and verifies the implementation of improvements.
  • Implements Agency and program safety and health policies and practices.
  • Performs industrial machine maintenance duties as needed.
  • Loads and unloads delivery trucks as needed.
  • Delivers incoming shipments to appropriate building/staff person.
  • Adjust building temperatures through thermostats and Trane Tracker controls
  • Prepares requisitions on purchases.
  • Assists in maintaining up to date Safety Data Sheets
  • Acts as a backup for other Tech Assistant
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Performs minor electrical repairs and installation, this includes any maintenance needed in this area.
  • Assists with maintaining all Agency vehicles and program equipment (forklifts, etc.) as needed.
  • Assists janitorial crew with guidance and training
  • Orders janitorial supplies to meet the needs of the agency
  • Creates and updates weekly janitorial schedules through Microsoft Teams
  • Maintains janitorial supply inventory and reorders as needed.
  • Assures the janitorial areas are neat and organized in appearance
  • Backup coverage for cutting lawns, replaces and maintains mulch, plants and maintains (trims, replaces, etc.) flowers, trees, and shrubbery, weed control to maintain the outward appearance of buildings including applying commercial pesticide applications
  • Paints walls in all facilities, this includes mudding and small repairs to walls as needed
