About The Position

Performs general and preventative maintenance and repairs on all physical structures and certain equipment as assigned. Requirements

  • Must be knowledgeable of general building/mechanical systems.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment correctly and safely.
  • Must be able to read common measuring instruments.
  • Skilled in one of more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and painting.
  • Imperative to have a strong positive attitude in working with residents and co-workers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb and use a ladder.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry objects in excess of 50 pounds and push upwards of 200 pounds using a rolling cart.
  • Requires reaching above, below, and at shoulder level.
  • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending mandatory.
  • Follows all safety precautions including use of personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and follow written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to handle routine problems while also knowing when to refer the problems to a higher level.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of technical school preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes work orders and assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Keeps maintenance shop and storage areas neat and orderly at all times.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.
  • Conducts scheduled maintenance checks throughout the facility which may include assisting inspectors and contractors in the inspection, testing, and repair of various equipment, building/mechanical systems and structures.
  • Responds to all emergencies such as fire, smoke, panic alarms, flooding, etc.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Participates in a rotating on-call weekend shift as assigned.
  • Is on-call for all disaster emergencies such as snow, ice storms, fire, tornados, and floods.
  • Performs duties as requested or assigned by management.
  • Regular and punctual in attendance.
