About The Position

Camp Greenville is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Summer 2026 season. This role supports the Y's mission by performing general facility maintenance, repair, custodial, and groundskeeping duties to ensure YMCA properties are safe, clean, functional, and welcoming. The position provides hands-on operational support for building systems, equipment, and property upkeep. The role requires living on-site from May 1, 2026, to August 31, 2026, with shared housing provided.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in facility care or closely related field.
  • Must be able to live on-site from May 1, 2026 - August 31, 2026.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must meet YMCA of Greenville driver eligibility requirements, including maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), in accordance with YMCA policies.
  • If driving YMCA vehicles or personal vehicles for YMCA business, the employee must successfully complete YMCA driver authorization requirements and maintain eligibility throughout employment.
  • Ability to communicate well with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Willingness to be trained and learn new skills and operations.
  • Strong communications, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance, minor repairs, and facility improvements (mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, etc.).
  • Assist with implementation of preventive maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Complete assigned work orders using the organization’s maintenance management system.
  • Monitor facility conditions and report unusual or unsafe conditions to the Property Director.
  • Operate tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with basic vehicle and equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Perform landscaping and facility maintenance to ensure a safe and attractive property year-round.
  • Perform custodial duties as assigned to maintain cleanliness and member satisfaction.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and facility-related safety issues.
  • Provide excellent service and maintain positive relationships with members, guests, staff, and volunteers.
  • Work cooperatively with staff and contracted service providers on facility projects.
  • Support overall operations of YMCA facilities and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
  • Ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.
