About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing tasks involved in the upkeep of the building and grounds, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment, and the building itself. This role may also involve purchasing and inventory of maintenance parts and supplies, and interacting with suppliers, customers, manufacturers, and internal departments. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, manage time effectively, work independently, and adhere to Pretium's standards for safety and conduct.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED
  • One year of related experience (Maintenance Technician I)
  • High School Diploma / GED, plus technical certificate(s) (Maintenance Technician II)
  • Three years of related experience (Maintenance Technician II)
  • Associates Degree in technical field (Maintenance Technician III)
  • Five years of related experience (Maintenance Technician III)
  • Working knowledge of relay control systems and PLC control systems, namely Mitsubishi, Siemens and Automation direct.
  • Ability to read, edit, monitor, and modify ladder logic.
  • Proficient in reading schematics to trouble shoot hydraulic / pneumatic and electrical issues.
  • Must have tools in order to perform all functions of the job/position. A minimum list of tools will be given by plant management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with plastics blow molding operations (injection blow molding, extrusion blow molding, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance duties on building and machines, including preventative maintenance.
  • Perform minor electrical work such as replacing light bulbs and fuses.
  • Assist with minor carpentry and repair work.
  • Assist with servicing and replacing minor plumbing fixtures.
  • Maintain machinery, equipment, and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing, and/or oiling.
  • Apply paint, varnish, and stain to surfaces using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Follow Plant specified job specifications and task lists.
  • Conduct oneself in a safe manner and adhere to all required safety protocols and policies.
  • Wear PPE properly in accordance with company standards.
  • Keep the workstation area clean and free from dirt and debris, including assigned areas of the building or equipment.
  • Work assigned shifts, including overtime and attending after-hour meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Maintain and make routine repairs to electrically powered equipment and appliances.
  • Apply carpentry techniques to construct, alter, repair, and/or install walls, stairs, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, roofs, gutters, locks, etc.
  • Perform structural repair, alterations, or improvement work such as preparing surfaces for plaster or cement work; studding, wiring, and plastering walls. Install glass in doors and windows.
  • Receive and follow up on assigned equipment work orders daily.
  • Enter appropriate information onto worksheets for submission and filing, or into the MRP system upon completion of work.
  • Read schematics to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
  • Read, edit, monitor, and modify ladder logic.
  • Visually inspect and test assigned machines and equipment for proper functionality.
  • Place orders for requisition parts as needed.
  • Perform repairs on production machines and/or equipment when a malfunction is detected.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Perform machine installations/moves and building maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Develop, coordinate, and track project list activities.
  • Ensure a high level of safety is adhered to at all times.
  • Monitor and verify activities to ensure all maintenance work meets food safety and quality standards.
  • Comply with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures and document data correctly.
  • Ensure all work product contact surfaces are restored to a sanitary condition after job completion.
  • Report any product or process failures that could impact food safety to Quality and/or Line/Maintenance Supervision.
