About The Position

The Maintenance Technician supports the safe, reliable operation of utility‑scale solar facilities by performing routine civil, grounds, and site‑infrastructure maintenance. This role focuses on access roads, fencing, vegetation management, drainage systems, and general site upkeep across multiple solar sites in Southern Virginia. This is an outdoor, hands‑on role suited for individuals who enjoy physical work, problem‑solving, and maintaining large‑scale infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a general technician
  • Valid driver’s license (required for travel across large solar sites and between locations)

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Forklift experience
  • Tree trimming or landscaping experience
  • Experience working on utility‑scale solar, construction, or civil maintenance projects
  • New graduates with relevant vocational or technical training are welcome

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on access roads, drainage systems, foundations, and general site grounds.
  • Operate riding mowers and use string trimmers to maintain clear, safe access around equipment and roads.
  • Conduct regular visual inspections of civil components and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Repair and maintain perimeter and interior fencing, including posts, wire, gates, and hardware.
  • Perform tree trimming, brush clearing, and basic landscaping to support site safety and accessibility.
  • Assist with grading, erosion control, and stormwater management features.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support site improvement projects and repair tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and site personnel.
  • Follow all site safety policies, procedures, and job hazard analyses.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Travel between work areas on large utility‑scale solar sites as required.
  • Participate in occasional travel, including overnight stays, depending on project needs.
