About The Position

NorthStar Hospitality is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain building operations and ensure that the facilities are safe and functional at all times at our recently renovated multi award-winning Hampton Inn Lexington Medical Center.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–2 years of hands-on maintenance experience (hotel, multifamily/apartment, facilities, or general trades background)
  • Technical competencies in HVAC, basic plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry and finishes, appliance and equipment repair, pool and spa maintenance, life safety systems, and preventive maintenance.
  • Guest-facing professionalism and discretion
  • Compliance with OSHA, lockout/tagout, chemical handling and SDS, and bloodborne pathogen procedures
  • Basic literacy with work order systems and mobile apps
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access roof and mechanical spaces
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for the full shift
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, indoors and outdoors
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings
  • Willingness to be on-call rotation and perform after-hours emergency response

Nice To Haves

  • Hotel maintenance experience preferred
  • Prior Hilton or franchised-brand experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain building operations and ensure that the facilities are safe and functional at all times.
  • Perform cleaning, coil and filter service, capacitor and thermostat replacement, and unit swaps for PTAC units.
  • Address basic plumbing issues including toilets, faucets, valves, drain clearing, and water heaters.
  • Handle basic electrical tasks such as outlets, switches, lighting, GFCI, and breaker resets.
  • Perform carpentry and finishes including drywall patch, paint and touch-up, door hardware, furniture repair, and flooring.
  • Repair appliances and equipment like microwaves, mini-fridges, and commercial laundry equipment.
  • Manage pool and spa maintenance including chemical testing, balancing, filtration, and logging.
  • Ensure life safety systems are functional, including fire panel familiarity, extinguisher and sprinkler inspection logs, emergency lighting, and elevator logs.
  • Execute scheduled guest room PM cycles and complete brand QA-related work orders.
  • Exhibit guest-facing professionalism and discretion when entering occupied guest rooms.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, lockout/tagout, chemical handling and SDS, and bloodborne pathogen procedures.
  • Utilize work order systems and mobile apps for logging PM.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and needed.
