About The Position

OrePac is seeking a dynamic and motivated Maintenance Technician responsible for the daily maintenance of equipment, building and grounds, and mobile equipment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, prioritizes safety, and possesses strong mechanical aptitude. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on various systems, as well as setting up and occasionally moving machines. The position requires the use of specialized tools and involves mechanical, basic electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fabrication work. It is a labor-intensive role requiring heavy lifting, being on your feet throughout the shift, and potentially working at heights. Safety is paramount, and adherence to OSHA guidelines is expected.

Requirements

Strong mechanical and technical skills.
Ability to effectively read and interpret documents such as specifications, machine manuals, electrical schematics, and blueprints.
Proficiency in troubleshooting techniques to solve equipment issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of PLC’s, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Skilled at safely and properly using a broad range of power and hand tools.
Ability to be a team player.
Ability to adhere to all facets of safety policies and procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a team or individually with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Must pass a forklift training course and obtain a certificate to operate forklifts.

Responsibilities

Ensure all equipment is in safe operating condition and available for production.
Oversee and conduct all timely PM (Preventive Maintenance) tasks, including identifying and correcting potential issues, lubricating mechanical parts, and logging activities.
Maintain building and grounds in a safe and clean condition.
Serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for all third-party vendors related to coordination of work and payment.
Manage mobile and material handling asset maintenance/repair (forklifts, combi lifts, standup lifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
Provide CapEx and ongoing recommendations for equipment upgrades, replacement, and/or modifications.
Coordinate with branch management on various contract renewals.
Support CI/Op-Ex processes, improvements, and other related functions.
Proactively conduct equipment inspections and safety audits.
Participate in all JHA/JSA reviews, revisions, and improvements.
Identify and repair problematic machine parts by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts.
Work to maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized environment while achieving department productivity goals.
Understand and follow OrePac safety rules and regulations, including OSHA guidelines related to Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), forklift operation, and machine guarding.
Perform regular inspections of fire, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
Use machines or equipment (such as forklifts) to move mechanical parts, including staging and stacking material, operating the forklift safely, and performing basic checks.
Conduct Welding and metal fabrication projects to support facility maintenance, equipment repairs and operational improvements.
