The Facilities Staff plays a key role in ensuring the safety and physical upkeep of the designated buildings and grounds, while maintaining a clean and neat appearance. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience working in maintenance/custodial operations
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicated effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Current CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certification (or within 30 days of hire)
  • Previous experience with diverse populations
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred demonstrated experience in one or more Trade area

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the buildings and grounds are kept in safe, clean and functioning order through use of technical skills and collaboration with other facilities/branch staff and outside vendors
  • Duties may include light technical work depending upon skill set such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and other areas of work
  • Duties may include cleaning of building facilities such as locker rooms, restrooms, offices, fitness studios, classrooms and common areas
  • Duties may include replenishing stock in bathrooms, gathering and emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring building safety and security and dusting
  • Duties may include grounds related work such as mowing, shoveling snow, moving equipment, setting up of outside venues, pest control and more
  • Be the primary point of contact for resolving minor and day-to-day facilities-related issues, and seek assistance/elevate large projects as needed
  • Decide when to handle situations and when issue needs to be elevated
  • Effectively maintain knowledge of branch operations to proactively support ongoing events, programs and needs
  • Acts as a role model within and outside the Association
  • Performs duties as workload necessitates
  • Maintains a positive and respectful attitude
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor about workplace issues
  • Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
  • Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties
  • Support the YMCA mission through volunteer development and assist in the Annual Campaign through the development & implementation of special fundraising events.
  • Ensure assigned program operations are consistent with association procedures, including emergency, insurance, accident, purchasing, personnel, accounting and other administrative systems
  • Exercise appropriate independent judgment, to assess facts and issues, and make non-routine decisions regarding day-to-day operational problems and issues
  • Ability to work with diverse population, including but not limited to, all races, ethnicities, ages, genders and gender identities, sexual orientations and diverse-abilities
