About The Position

The 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair tasks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operation. This role involves visual and auditory inspections, dismantling equipment, repairing or replacing parts, lubricating machinery, and troubleshooting malfunctions. The technician will also perform scheduled preventive maintenance, calibrate instruments, and ensure all work is performed safely. Overtime may be required, and the technician must provide their own hand tools and toolbox.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be able to troubleshoot machine problems using root cause analysis
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must have a working knowledge of the overall machine both mechanically and operationally
  • Communicate and work closely with all team members
  • Hand tools are required and a tool box for storage of personal tools.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
  • Dismantle equipment and remove parts for repair using hand tools, power tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment according to specified procedures.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to engineering specifications.
  • Locate damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machines, and measure, cut, thread, and install new pipe.
  • Set up and operate tools such as drill presses, grinders, welding equipment, etc., to make or repair parts.
  • Start machines and equipment to test the operation of completed repairs.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair and/or Preventive Maintenance (PMs).
  • Record maintenance and repair information.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test equipment and software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.
  • Inspect components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation and for defects such as loose connections and frayed wires.
  • Install repaired equipment in various settings, such as industrial or military establishments.
  • Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, and repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems.
  • Study blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures.
  • Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly.
  • Repair and adjust equipment, machines, and defective components, replacing worn parts such as gaskets and seals in watertight electrical equipment.
  • Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, and tests.
  • Calibrate testing instruments and installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Perform all acts safely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work at heights for some jobs.
  • Operate forklifts and man lifts for repairs as needed.
