About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing production equipment and facility systems to support the safe and efficient manufacturing of electrical transformers. This role performs preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing machinery while also assisting with the overall upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the facility, grounds, and building infrastructure. The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring the facility remains operational and well-maintained.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • Working knowledge of: AC/DC motors, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLC troubleshooting, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings and power transmission systems.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and precision and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking systems and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in electrical equipment or transformer manufacturing.
  • Welding and fabrication experience (MIG/TIG/Stick).
  • Forklift certification.
  • Overhead crane experience.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance software (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment according to established schedules.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Maintain and repair manufacturing equipment including: Winding Machines, Hydraulic Presses, Vacuum Drying and Tanking Systems, Overhead Cranes and hoists, Welding Equipment, Air Compressors, Industrial Ovens, and Fabrication Equipment.
  • Install and commission new machinery and production equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and preventative maintenance records.
  • Perform general building maintenance, including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting repairs.
  • Maintain facility lighting, HVAC systems, doors, docks, windows, and building infrastructure.
  • Assist with repairs to office areas, production areas, restrooms, breakrooms, and common spaces.
  • Perform seasonal maintenance, including snow removal coordination, salting walkways, and maintaining exterior grounds as needed.
  • Maintain compressed air, water, and utility systems throughout the facility.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs and preventative maintenance services.
  • Monitor facility equipment and identify opportunities for repairs or improvements before failures occur.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance shops, storage areas, and utility rooms.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and facility efficiency.
  • Assist in equipment relocation and facility expansion projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and all company safety policies.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Quality, EHS, and Operations to support manufacturing goals.
  • Participate in after-hours or weekend emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Perform other maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned.
