About The Position

Schochet is hiring a Maintenance Technician for Bay View Estates, a 130-unit market-rate apartment community in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The role involves completing resident work orders, maintaining the property, preparing apartments for turnover, conducting preventative maintenance, and participating in property inspections. The technician must be available for alternating on-call shifts and live within 30 minutes of Portsmouth, RI. A valid driver’s license and personal transportation are required for on-call duties. The position includes a $150 on-call premium for each week on call, in addition to pay for call time and travel at the current on-call rate. Pre-employment background screening and drug testing are required.

Requirements

• Prior maintenance experience.
• Experience with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, and unit turnover procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to lift moderate weights of 30–60 lbs. regularly; occasional heavy lifting may be required.
• Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the day and perform heavy manual labor requiring strength and endurance.
• Must live within 30 minutes of Portsmouth, RI.
• Valid driver’s license and personal transportation for on-call duties.
• Availability for alternating on-call shifts.
• Must pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Complete resident work orders of all types.
• Perform general daily upkeep of the property.
• Complete resident apartment turnover tasks.
• Conduct preventative maintenance activities.
• Conduct property inspections and/or participate on an inspection team.
• Participate in alternating on-call shifts.
