About The Position

Gummi World is seeking Maintenance Technicians at three levels (I, II, and III) to join their fast-growing nutraceutical manufacturing team in Chandler, Arizona. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production, packaging, cooking, and facility equipment. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical failures, supporting new equipment installation and qualification, and collaborating with production teams to minimize downtime. The level of the position will be determined by the candidate's experience, certifications, and technical interview performance, with higher levels requiring progressively greater technical expertise, independence, and leadership. All technicians are expected to be hands-on, safety-first, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or FDA-regulated cGMP manufacturing environment is strongly preferred for all levels.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems, motors, VFDs, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and HVAC.
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) — required; training provided if not current.
  • GMP and food safety certification — required; provided upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree, trade school certification, or apprenticeship in industrial maintenance, electrical, HVAC, or mechanical systems is strongly preferred.
  • Military maintenance MOS or equivalent technical training is highly valued.
  • Experience with mechanical fabrication, welding, or construction-level facility work is a plus at all levels.
  • PLC troubleshooting — Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar
  • Electrical diagnostics: single & three-phase systems
  • Motor controls, VFDs, soft starters
  • Pneumatic & hydraulic system repair
  • HVAC maintenance & diagnostics
  • Precision hand tool and power tool proficiency
  • Reading schematics, wiring diagrams & P&IDs
  • Conveyor, packaging & filling equipment

  • IQ/OQ/PQ qualification documentation
  • Welding / fabrication (plus at all levels)
  • Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
  • Electrical license or journeyman card — preferred at Technician II and III.
  • HVAC certification (EPA 608) — preferred at Technician II and III.
  • Forklift / scissor lift / aerial work platform certification — preferred; training available.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 — preferred at Technician III.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance on all production, packaging, cooking, and facility equipment.
  • Inspect machinery daily for wear, misalignment, fluid leaks, unusual noise, temperature, or vibration and escalate findings immediately.
  • Troubleshoot and repair failures across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, automation, PLC, and PID-controlled systems.
  • Ensure all equipment operates within manufacturer specifications and Gummi World production standards.
  • Perform precision repairs on nutraceutical-grade equipment including steam-jacketed cooking kettles, depositors, cooling tunnels, demolding systems, conveyors, filling lines, cappers, labelers, sealers, and packaging machinery.
  • Respond to production breakdown calls quickly and decisively to minimize downtime and restore line output.
  • Assist production teams with machine setup, changeovers, and in-shift operational troubleshooting.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair progress, and return-to-service timelines clearly to production supervisors.
  • Support shift handoffs with accurate equipment status updates and open work order communication.
  • Assist with or lead installation, alignment, and commissioning of new manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Inspect newly delivered machinery to verify it meets operational, safety, and cGMP standards before go-live.
  • Execute and document Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) protocols for FDA-regulated equipment.
  • Support facility upgrades, construction projects, and infrastructure improvements as directed.
  • Comply fully with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for every piece of equipment before any maintenance, cleaning, or adjustment task.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, cGMP requirements, and food safety standards.
  • Ensure all repaired and returned equipment is safe, clean, and GMP-compliant before releasing to production.
  • Educate production team members on safe and correct equipment operation.
  • Document all maintenance activities, parts used, labor hours, and corrective actions in NetSuite and the CMMS accurately and in real time.
  • Maintain complete equipment service histories; identify and report recurring failure patterns to management.
  • Complete all required maintenance logs, safety checklists, sanitation records, and qualification documents.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for equipment replacement, upgrades, or PM schedule adjustments.
