About The Position

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Technicians install, overhaul, dismantle, construct, inspect, replace, test and make mechanical and electrical repairs to buildings and mechanical equipment such as boilers, compressors, sprinklers, piping, plumbing, production and material handling equipment, line equipment and controls. This role involves troubleshooting using working knowledge of programmable controllers, electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics. The technician will also perform plumbing and pipefitting duties, operate and repair boilers, compressors, sprinklers, cooling towers and pumps, and read and interpret machine electrical and mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematic diagrams. Installation, modification, and fabrication of equipment and systems to meet production needs and schedules are also key responsibilities. The role includes welding, fabricating, maintaining building interiors and exteriors, and inputting/retrieving information from the Maintenance Management/MVP System. Continuous improvement in safety, quality, and housekeeping, performing preventative maintenance, inspecting safety equipment, requisitioning materials, and communicating effectively between shifts and with management are also essential. The technician will maintain a clean and organized work area according to 6S standards.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of experience repairing and troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, to include the following: overhead cranes, forklifts, hoists, 3 phase motors, variable speed drives and controls, and heavy industrial wiring and/or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work orders, equipment manuals, blue prints, and electrical schematics.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and write clearly, and communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and supervisors.
  • Understanding and demonstrated ability to apply troubleshooting techniques.
  • Does require training checklist and demonstration of skills.
  • Available to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts, that could include weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 to 12 months previous experience on a coating line is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, overhaul, dismantle, construct, inspect, replace, test and make mechanical and electrical repairs to buildings and mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot using working knowledge of programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Perform plumbing and pipefitting duties as required on plant piping, such as steam, water, air, gas, and chemical lines.
  • Operate and repair electrically and mechanically, all boilers, compressors, sprinklers, cooling towers and pumps as needed.
  • Read and interpret machine electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Read and interpret blue prints and schematic diagrams.
  • Perform installation, modification and fabrication of equipment and systems to meet production needs and schedules.
  • Weld and fabricate as necessary for repair or projects.
  • Maintain interior and exterior of buildings including windows, drain spouts, roofs, floors, ceiling, etc.
  • Input and retrieve information from the Maintenance Management/MVP System.
  • Participate in continuous improvement in safety, quality and housekeeping.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as directed.
  • Perform various inspections on safety equipment.
  • Requisition material, parts and tools.
  • Communicate clearly from one shift to another and to the Production Foreman and Maintenance Manager.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of repairs with department managers.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area according to 6S standards.
  • Actively participate in adhering to plant housekeeping requirements by picking up trash, sweeping work areas, and returning materials and equipment to their proper locations.
  • Use computer to enter and retrieve information.
  • Maintain regular and on time attendance.
  • Adhere to all safety and work rules.
  • Adhere to job specific SOPs.
  • Assist and train new employees.
  • Read and comprehend instructions regarding new equipment, equipment changes and/or procedural changes.
  • Perform miscellaneous assignments as directed.
