About The Position

As a Maintenance Technician at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe repair, maintenance, and rebuild of tube mill production equipment. This position is responsible for maximizing equipment reliability, uptime, and performance while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality. You will collaborate with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot issues, perform repairs, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a full-time, onsite role located in [Location]. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in a maintenance role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; apprenticeship, journeyman training, military service, or related technical training preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including familiarity with PLCs.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to pass job-related testing, physical requirements, and drug screening.
  • Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance on production equipment while following all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Ensure all guards and safety devices are in place and functioning before returning equipment to operation.
  • Monitor inventory levels of maintenance parts and supplies and coordinate ordering and receipt verification.
  • Utilize maintenance management systems to track, inspect, and report on equipment performance and repairs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and quality issues and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Perform breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment changeovers.
  • Observe equipment operation using precision tools to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop tools and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and portable cranes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
  • Identify and report safety, quality, or operational issues that cannot be resolved independently.
  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
