Maintenance Technician
About The Position
Gateway on Cullen Student Living Apartments is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain and upkeep the building and grounds through routine procedures and special work orders. The role also includes transporting residents on regularly scheduled trips and to special events. The technician responds to resident work orders, prepares apartments for move-in, and performs general maintenance and repairs. Duties may involve plumbing, electrical equipment, carpentry, painting, equipment repair, snow removal, and landscaping. The position also supports emergency response, vehicle maintenance coordination, and resident activities as assigned.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience in property maintenance.
- Ability to install appliances and perform minor electrical work, including garbage disposal installation and ceiling fan installation; perform minor HVAC repairs and plumbing; and prepare apartments for move-in.
- Must have own tools.
- Must be willing to work overtime and be on call as needed.
- Good organizational skills and time management.
- Must be available to work daily for approximately 20–30 consecutive days during student housing Turn season, including weekends and extended hours as needed.
Nice To Haves
- HVAC / EPA certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and complete resident work orders while ensuring quality service and resident satisfaction.
- Perform assigned work to ready apartments for move-in.
- Perform general maintenance projects, including installations and repairs involving plumbing, electrical equipment, carpentry, painting, and equipment repair.
- Perform snow removal and outside landscaping maintenance.
- Know and follow property emergency, safety, and disaster plans and procedures.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and immediately and appropriately to accidents and emergencies.
- Report mechanical needs and repairs, and assist with coordinating vehicle maintenance and repair services such as oil changes and tire rotations.
- Assist with resident daily activities as assigned by the supervisor.
- Transport residents on regularly scheduled trips and to special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
